Remove the insert and pop the cover in the washing machine on a warm, gentle cycle. Line dry to keep its color and shape, then press on the reverse if it’s feeling rumpled. Skip the bleach — linen loves to soften and get better with every use.

Hannele Äijälä is a Helsinki-based textile designer and illustrator with a Master’s in textile design from Aalto University.
