Karel Martens is a Dutch graphic designer, artist, and educator who has spent decades making color, type, and geometry play very nicely together, while occasionally breaking the rules. Known for bold grids, overlapping forms, and unexpected color combinations, his work manages to be precise without being precious. His Colors on the Beach project for Le Havre, France, inspired SUITE702’s Martens & Martens collection, turning his graphic experiments into towels and bath mats.
